Publishing / Printing Date: 1869

Publisher page has one simple state of "License" - this license issued on July 11 and December 28th of 1839. Also notes that this declaration on may 2nd, 1964 is for 3,000 copies. There is a date below this license statement (May 20th, 1964). The last section of this Bible is The Psalms of David in Metre with a date below in Roman Numerals of 1869. There are a few similar Bibles listed on-line with a date of 1871, but it is not clear how this date is established. The marriage record of this family is recorded as 1872 which may lend to a dating of 1871 for printing.

Description: Gothic tooled leather cover, black in color with gilt title and design in center of front cover - edge of leather cover is beveled - all page edges are gilted - over 900 pages (each section numbered separately) - very large volume 11.88" X 9.75" X 2.5'.

Special Features: color maps of the Bible lands - illustrations of key Bible passages - marginal readings with parallel references - 4 page family register section between Old and New Testaments - after the book of Revelation there is (1) Great prophecies and allusions to Christ (2) a scripture chronology (3)harmony of the gospels, chronology arranged (4) alphabetical table of proper names in the Old and New Testament (5) offices and sects mentioned in the scriptures (6) The Psalms of David in Metre.

Family Information: husband listed as Andrew Lockhart - born September 1845 - wife listed as Mary McNoah born December 1846 - married December 1872. There are specific references to the parish of birth for each and the parish of marriage - they list 4 children (Maggie, Agnes, John, and Jeannie) - dates / locations of birth given - death of Mary McNoah listed in the death section (1917).

Condition: used, acceptable - cover is still attached but loose, splits in leather along both sides of spine - other wear and scuffs to leather cover - gilt lettering and design still in good shape - tape was used to support the cover and then removed leaving marks - page edges show gilting and shines when held to the light - end papers are spotted and grey colored - illustration pages do not have text on back and back sides are greying and tanning - maps are surprising in very good shape and colors are bright - text areas are also in very good condition.
